Presence

It’s been difficult for me lately. I have been in a mental space that does not allow creativity, or expression. It’s been work, sleep, repeat. I forgot what leisure was? Relaxing, calm, peace of mind.

We went to our family reunion in July. Traveling across country to our dad’s hometown crazy right? Hot Spring’s, SD…I saw all the places he talked about, the houses he lived in, the bowling alley my grandma learned in. Talk about a full circle moment, memory, experience. It was just a wow! Never have taken a trip with both my siblings as adults. What an incredible experience! A moment when presence was required and lived up to the hype!

It was a full circle moment remembering our father and grandparents. Where they lived, loved, and learned. Seeing these places. Meeting the wonderful people that surrounded them. It was a once in a lifetime experience one I will never forget.

I almost talked myself out of it. I almost didn’t go. I am so glad I did. I am so glad I was present to see all the he wonderful people that surrounded my grandmother and my father growing up. It was so amazing to visualize there life and growing up. I even found my grandmas senior yearbook!

People said I look like her. I agree. You can tell we are related. What a wonderful women to be directly associated with! She was my hero, my surrogate mother, my everything when my parents divorced. I am so grateful to her. So blessed to have had her in my life. What a wonderful gift I was given to see her hometown. Breathe her air, see the life she had. One my dad talked about often.

As a woman, as an older sister. It was wonderful to see my brother and sister see all the things our dad talked about. Feel it’s warmth and love by physically being there. I cannot begin to express how wonderful it was. How I will never forget it. I will cherish it always.

That’s all I have tonight friends…life and writing are a work in progress…(just like me)😘 so friends cherish your moments, be present, do the things you think you should not do. I promise it will be worth it…❤️
